Reduce Height Of Side Panels:

I removed the lock plate and filed down the side till the lock plate was fully exposed. Kept checking the flatness of the side to ensure the side was flat and square to the top barrel flat.

Once this was accomplished, I measured the thickness of the wood to the barrel and then transfered this measurement to the other side. Then filed the other side down till it matched the thickness. You will note, all the previous side plate inlaying was filed away. Only a small portion of the dowel is exposed now. The side plate is positioned where the lock bolt will pass thru it.

Here is a movie of the pistol being cocked and fired. Movie

Next I will work on the trigger guard.
