Trigger Plate Assembly Inletted: The trigger assembly was disassembled. Then the plate was inletted into the stock. Note, the plate was inletted slightly off center of the stock toward the side of the lock by 1/16". This moves the trigger closer to the finger and the trip mechanism closer to the lock. Once the plate is inletted, it is difficult to remove. To avoid damaging the wood, I use a 8x32 bolt screwed down thru the hole used to mount the spring to the lock plate. Screwing the bolt into the lock, lifts the lock plate from the stock. With the plate fully inletted, I use a pencil to mark thru the plate where the two notches in the plate are. These are the locations for the set trigger and the main trigger. Using a chisel I remove the wood. Reinstalling the triggers, I blacken them and then proceed to finish inletting the plate assembly till I have free movement of the triggers. When the triggers are good, I position the rear spring in the inletted area, centering the hole in the spring over the mark made by the bolt I was using earlier. Once this is traced out, I remove the wood. Remount the spring to the plate assembly and blacken again removing any wood with black marks on. Next I mount the spring wire onto the front trigger and again blacken the assembly and remove any wood with black marks on. Noting the operation of the trigger assembly and remove any wood interfering with the mechanism. The triggers now work and will trip the lock mechanism.
