I cut along the lines on the stock with a file across the comb.  Then I used a hacksaw to cut down to the lines, then chiseled the excess wood away. Using cabinet maker files, I filed down to the lines.

Finished filing the buttplate down to the original design. 2009-02-28a 004.JPG (165268 bytes) Then using candle soot I carefully inlet the buttplate down on the stock till satisfied. Once this was done, I moved th2009-02-28a 006.JPG (150956 bytes)e buttplate forward to fully seat it against the stock. This made a nice tight fit.

I removed the wood from the patchbox side first and have yet to do the cheek side. This photo should show you  the curvature of the top comb now. Still a lot of wood to come off yet. 2009-02-28a 013.JPG (182327 bytes)

I cut out the patterns for the brass and glued them to the brass so they can be cut out. The comb and the forearm inlays are .032" brass and the others are .064".
