This is a Chamber's Siler lock. To inlet the lock into the precarved
stock, disassemble the lock down to the faceplate. Align the lock with the
cut-out in the stock. Then using a pencil mark along the outside of the lock and
remove the extra wood on either side of the frizzen pan area. This allows the
lock to lay flat onto the stock itself.
Using candle soot, I then then inlet the lock plate
into the stock. I will work on the internal parts next.
The internal components of the lock were inletted one piece at a
time. In the following order: Stirrup, tumbler, sear, sear spring with bolt and
then the main spring. Once all the components were
inletted and the lock internal components were working, I made a short movie of
