Now to start inletting the inlays:
To begin with the comb inlay was installed.

Next the forearm belly inlay was installed.

Now it was time to inlet the sidepanel inlays.
 I
next inlet the harvest moon on the cheek. Note the steel brad I used for the
"eye" on the moon.
Now I need to start working on the nipple pick holder below the cheek. I
cut out the brass, annealed it and then bent it into to shape. Once
I was satisfied with the bending, I then inlet it below the cheek.
 Next
the brass was filed smooth. Note the small opening
on the right side of the panel. This is where the pick is inserted.
The hole tapers to the left to hold the pick in place. The top of the inlay is
flu sh with the panel of the cheek. Added
the silver thumbpiece to the wrist. The original had one, but it was
missing.
I
always want to mark one end of the inlays so I can reposition it correctly when
I go to inletting it into the stock. I cut straight down along the sides
and not at an angle. Envision the piece of metal melting down into the stock so
you know you have to cut straight down. This gives you a good inlet of
this piece.
I'll
engrave it later with his three initials.
