A Little Engraving:

Started to do some engraving on the top of the buttplate. For front end of the buttplate had little triangles. I added my own lines along two of the top flats. I coated the top of the buttplate with china white and then drew the lines. DSC00151.JPG (132411 bytes) Note I added some fine lines inside the base of the triangles.

Now I proceeded to the sideplate.  I put a border around the plate. Then I added a floral around the screw on the left. Stamped my shop cartouche on the plate then  a "S" scroll to match up with the wrist carvings.DSC00157.JPG (129658 bytes)

On to the patch box.  I found out I could use a "Sharpie" marker and draw DSC00160.JPG (125821 bytes)directly onto the steel. (it was faster and less messy.) Drew out my patterns on the patchbox prior to engraving DSC00159.JPG (145072 bytes)

Then I drew out the monogram on the thumbpiece.

Here is the patchbox after the engraving was done.

Rev. Chappell wanted a cross of the rifle, so I made one out of pure silver and mounted it to the tail of the rear thimble. This will shine out everytime the gun is leaned up against bench for loading.

I completed all the engravings. DSC00200.JPG (194272 bytes)
