Installed the flashliner into the barrel:

First Brian had to remove the breechplug from the barrel.  Then we drilled the hole with a #3 drill bit for a 1/4-32 flashliner. We used the Jim Chambers "Lightning" liner.         2009-04-17 019.JPG (233485 bytes)

With the hole drilled, he reinstalled the breechplug.  This showed us how much interference there was with the breechplug and 2009-04-17 024.JPG (254838 bytes)the liner. He used a black magic marker to mark the breech plug.

The breech plug was removed again and a triangular mark was made from the outside edge to the center of the plug. This way powder will funnel it's way toward the flashliner. 2009-04-17 026.JPG (230968 bytes) Using a round file, the groove was filed into the plug. 2009-04-17 027.JPG (231583 bytes)

The plug was threaded back into the barrel and we checked to make sure enough material was removed.  The opening was now clear. 2009-04-17 031.JPG (244733 bytes)2009-04-17 021.JPG (240560 bytes)

He then removed the plug again so we could thread the hole for the liner. Once the plug was removed, the hole was counter sunk for the flashliner.

The hole was then tapped using a 1/4-32 tap. To ensure this was perpendicular to the barrel, we started the threading with the tap in the drill press and tapped into the barrel by hand.  Once we had a few threads started, we removed the barrel with the tap still in it and then tapped it in the vise by hand. 2009-04-17 020.JPG (232883 bytes)

Once the tapping was completed, the liner was threaded into the hole all the way using a pair of vise grips. Then he used a hacksaw to cut off the excess material of the liner.2009-04-17 032.JPG (259109 bytes)

Now he had to file down the liner to be flush with the barrel. 2009-04-17 034.JPG (251593 bytes)2009-04-17 035.JPG (154667 bytes)
