Inlays installed:

 The
inlays on the forearm were installed. Then the wrist was rounded more by
dividing the wrist into the 7ths. Then the fish were inlayed into either
side of the wrist.

 The
hunter's star was inlet into the cheek. A line was drawn around the perimeter of
the star per the request of my granddaughter. She saw this on page 170 of
Whisker's book of Virginia Gunsmiths. Next I used my wire inlay chisels to
trace out the outlines. The wire was shaped and cut and cut to length. A wooden
dowel was then used to gently tap the wire inlay into the stock.
As you can see, it turned out well.
Then
I did a little carving up on the forearm on either side of the rear thimbles.
This added a little character to the rifle.

A
Silver horned owl was inletted into the stock and then engraved.
I'll try to get a closer shot of it later.
 Other
parts of the rifle furniture was engraved too, along with the fish and birds on
the stock . The trigger plate was a feather.
Since
the gun was started in late 2006, I selected to use that year as the birth
of the rifle. Today I engraved the
barrel, cheekpiece, and started staining the stock. I'll
save these photos for later, since I want to start browning the steel parts,
too.
